Please ensure that your child has the appropriate PE kit in school and is ready for PE on these days.

Online Learning – Login Details
As a school, we subscribe to a range of online learning platforms. Your child will have their own login details, which are stuck into their reading record.
These websites can be accessed both at home and at school and are fantastic tools for supporting your child's learning.

Homework
Homework is set and marked each Wednesday and will include Maths and English activities.
Please send your child in with a homework folder to keep their homework in. If they don't have one, please speak to their teacher.
Sometimes homework may also be set using MyMaths or Spelling Shed.
Every Friday, we spend time practising key arithmetic skills. From time to time, your child may bring home the sheet they have completed in class so that they can continue to practise these skills at home.
MyMaths is available to your child at home at all times. It can be used to:

Practise a skill your child is finding tricky

Consolidate previous learning

Complete homework when it has been set
Your child has their own MyMaths login in their reading record.
Times Tables
Good recall of multiplication and division facts remains very important in Year 5. Being able to quickly recall times-table facts helps children to work confidently across many areas of maths.
We have a weekly multiplication test every Tuesday, which is targeted at each child's current level. Children should know which tables they are currently working on and should aim to progress through the stages regularly.
Repetition is key when learning times tables, so regular short bursts of practice at home can make a big difference.

Spelling
Each week, children will learn a new spelling pattern.
The weekly pattern will be set on Spelling Shed, where children can practise their spellings through a range of activities and games.
Children will also bring home a paper copy of their weekly spellings, so you can practise together at home if you prefer not to use the online programme.
Regular, short practice sessions are the best way to help children remember new spelling patterns and to ensure that there are not gaps in their knowledge.
The mastery section of Spelling Shed is also useful for "plugging" gaps.
Reading
Please encourage your child to read something every day.
Reading doesn't always have to mean sitting down with a school reading book. Children can read:

Anything else that interests them!
You can support your child's reading by:

Listening to them read aloud

Please remember to record your child's reading in their reading record and initial their reading race sheet. Don't forget to log everything they read so that they can earn extra tokens!
Headphones
We regularly use Chromebooks and iPads in our learning.
Although we have some headphones available in school, it would be really useful for children to have their own pair. Simple earphones with a traditional headphone jack are perfect.
Recorders
Year 5 children will be continuing to use their recorders in some music lessons.
Recorders will be provided by school. However, if your child would like to bring their own recorder to school, they are more than welcome to do so.
